News 13 – Kansas City Target employees walked into a scene in the woman’s bathroom on Tuesday that they say left them “speechless.” A 26-year-old woman with a history of mental issues, Christine Patterson, was taken into custody after employees found her lying next to the trashcan in the woman’s bathroom crying as she sang the popular song from Disney’s Frozen, “Let It Go.” But that was not the worst of it. According to the employees that witnessed the incident, it was what she was doing while she was singing that left the two employees in utter disbelief and shock.
“We could hear crying coming from outside the door when we were on our way to the break room,” said Tonya McPherson. “When we walked in, there she was, laying on the floor with her pants around her ankles with an Olaf puppet in one hand and a carrot in the other. What she was doing with the puppet, I don’t even have words for it. It will be etched into my mind forever. I can’t believe what I saw. We definitely can’t restock that item.”
The two women said when they approached Patterson she seemed to be in complete distress, As if she “wasn’t really there.” According to the police report, the employees said Patterson just kept repeating the same thing over and over again until police arrived, “Let it go, let it go, can hold back anymore, turn away and slam the door!”
“We really pride ourselves on not seeing these types of things at Target,” McPherson said. “This is something you usually see at Walmart, not here.” Police say that Patterson was listed as a missing person two weeks prior to the incident and had been off of her medication for her schizophrenia/bipolar disorder. In a statement to police, Patterson denied her identity stating that she was “Queen Elsa” and just wanted to be left alone in her kingdom. Patterson is currently under psychiatric hold in a Kansas City Hospital. No charges are being filed at this time.
